Bringing you the weird and wild from the world of MMA each and every weeknight
Welcome to Midnight Mania!
Joe Rogan and Deontay Wilder went in on Anthony Joshua on Joe Rogan’s podcast, the Joe Rogan Experience. They were discussing Wilder’s recent fight, a split draw against Tyson Fury (watch the incredible highlight), in which Fury got up from what seemed a sure knockout by Fury to make it to the final bell. Rogan mentioned that the fight and the rematch on track to do so well makes UK heavyweight superstar Anthony Joshua look bad:
Rogan: It’s gonna be incredible. And it puts Anthony Joshua in a terrible situation- terrible! He looks awful.
Wilder: Oh, they beggin’ now.
Rogan: He looks terrible. He’s gonna fight some other guy, and no one gives a fuck. And it’s like, your titles, whatever titles you got, they’re bullshit! They don’t mean anything! Everybody knows this is where the real title is! It’s a wrap now.

Wilder went on to say that Joshua’s people were reaching out to his people, and pointed out that Joshua could have had the fight- against either himself or Fury- had he wanted it.
You can watch the full podcast below, in which Deontay starts off talking about his grandma telling him he was the chosen one as a child.

Perfect time to bring this old Fedor Emelianenko meme back: Tyson Fury fits it perfectly.
Took me a second to see it…
The hatred Dana White has for Tyron Woodley makes little sense, but this idea from Woodley does make some sense.
Tyron Woodley tells @arielhelwani that the solution to not having to publicly force people to compete is to have ranked fighters from the same division to fight on the same card so that their future timelines will align.

Speaking of welterweight things that make no sense: who thought Sage Northcutt was ready for Santiago Ponzinibbio??
.@sagenorthcutt says that he was offered a main event fight against Santiago Ponzinibbio at #UFCArgentina. Says he wanted a one-fight contract but UFC wanted him to sign for two. Sage preferred to sign with #ONE Championship instead. #HelwaniShow @arielhelwani

A little artistic liberty and Alex Oliveira could make his forehead stitches into an “A” for his first name.
