Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) was back at it again last Saturday night (Feb. 2, 2019) with the UFC on ESPN+ 2 “Assuncao vs Moraes 2” mixed martial arts (MMA) event, which went down inside Northeast Olympic Training Center in Fortaleza, Brazil. Headlining the event was a bantamweight bout between Raphael Assuncao and Marlon Moraes, which saw “Magic” get some revenge on his fellow countryman via first round submission (see it).
For his efforts, Moraes scored a $4,000 sponsorship check from Reebok, while Raphael bagged $15,000 from the sports apparel giant. The biggest earners of the night, though, were Jose Aldo and Demian Maia, who both scored a $20,000 Reebok check for their wins over Renato Moicano and Lyman Good, respectively.
Also scoring $20,000 checks were Thiago Alves and Charles Oliveira. But, that’s not all! Take a look at the entire Reebok payouts (courtesy of MMA Junkie):

According to the payout structure (see it), the more fights a fighter has accumulated — combined with UFC and the now-defunct World Extreme Cagefighting (WEC) and Strikeforce promotions — the more coin he or she gets to fill his or her combat sports piggy bank. And the less fights a fighter has under the Endeavor umbrella … well, the less he or she gets. If you have a problem with the structure, take it up with UFC … not Reebok.
According to the report, fighters will also receive royalty and payments up to 20 to 30 percent of any UFC-related merchandise sold that bears his or her likeness. That’s a great way for the Internet “morons” to help the cause.
