Daniel Cormier is no longer interested in a rematch against former UFC heavyweight champion Stipe Miocic, whom “DC” knocked out for the title last summer.
It doesn’t sound like Daniel Cormier is open to a rematch against Stipe Miocic.
Cormier, the UFC heavyweight champion, said in a tweet Tuesday that he won’t fight Miocic for a second time for a variety of reasons. “DC” said that’s because Miocic hasn’t fought since their first fight, while Cormier has stayed active against Derrick Lewis. Cormier also cited an injury and how their first fight played out as other reasons he won’t accept a rematch against Miocic.
“He’s being entitled, why have I fought since and he hasn’t,” Cormier said of Miocic. “He lost the fight is he still the champ?
“Reason 2: I’m hurt. Reason 3: how do I do it better? I beat him in a round last time?”

Cormier beat Miocic for the heavyweight belt at UFC 226 last July. Miocic has the most title defenses in the history of the UFC heavyweight division.
Miocic has called for a rematch against Cormier ever since he fell to Cormier by knockout in the first round of their International Fight Week pay-per-view main event. Cormier initially was interested if a fight against Brock Lesnar was not going to happen, but it seems as if Cormier’s stance has changed.
Since Cormier vs. Miocic, Cormier has defended his heavyweight strap for the first time in a fight against Lewis. He submitted “The Black Beast” in the first round of the UFC 230 main event last November. Miocic, who won the belt in 2016, has not competed in the cage since.
