Paul Daley and Michael Page face-off ahead of their headlining bout at Bellator 216.
Bitter UK rivals Paul Daley and Michael Page faced off in front of the media on Wednesday ahead of their highly anticipated grudge match at Bellator 216.
The fight has been years in the making, and both men will finally get to settle their differences in the opening round of the Bellator welterweight Grand Prix at Mohegan Sun Arena in Uncasville, Connecticut on Feb. 16.
‘MVP’ has been touted as one of the best strikers in the promotion, but the London Shootfighter has been criticised for inactivity and lack of competition. That all changes on Saturday, however, as the 31-year-old will face his toughest opponent to date in Paul Daley.
Daley is one of the most technical and heavy hitting fighters in the welterweight division, amassing a plethora of highlight reel knockout victories over his professional sixteen-year career. Prior to his decision loss to Jon Fitch last year, ‘Semtex’ knocked out former UFC welterweight contender Lorenz Larken at Bellator 183, becoming only the second man to KO ‘The Monsoon.’
Bellator 216 also features a heavyweight showdown between PRIDE legend Mirko Cro Cop and former UFC heavyweight contender Roy Nelson.
On Friday, the day before Bellator 216, Matt Mitrione will take on the heavy-hitting Sergei Kharitonov in the Bellator 215 main event. The bout will also take place at Mohegan Sun Arena in Uncasville, Connecticut.
