Daniel Cormier is still set on defending his Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) Heavyweight title against Brock Lesnar in what would be “DC’s” final UFC fight. While there really hasn’t been much movement on the “super fight” front, it seems that matchup is inevitable.

But not everyone is thrilled at the prospect of seeing Lesnar return to the Octagon and get an immediate title shot. Among them is former division champion Junior dos Santos, who says no one other than “DC” and Brock want this fight to happen.

“This thing where Daniel Cormier wants to fight Brock Lesnar; I know he wants to make money, but it doesn’t make any sense,” Dos Santos told MMA Junkie. “The only one who wants to see that fight or make that fight is him. Nobody else wants to see that.”

Lesnar hasn’t competed since defeating Mark Hunt at UFC 200 back in 2016. After the fight, Brock failed a couple of United States Anti Drug Testing Agency (USADA)-administered drug test and was subsequently suspended a year. After returning to WWE, Brock has expressed interest in a UFC return, even confronting Cormier after “DC” knocked out Miocic to claim the division strap.

Still, “JDS” says Brock is far from deserving of a shot at the 265-pound strap. And if he gets it, he will consider it a slap in the face.

“Of course Brock Lesnar he’s a very polemic guy so people like to watch him and they pay to watch him, that’s why he wants to fight him. But man, that would be ridiculous to have him back in the sport and have him fighting for the title already,” he added. “It would be kind of disrespect to all of us in the sport and even with the organization. I don’t think that’s the thing to make, but whatever. Politics are politics.”

With a win over Derrick Lewis this Saturday night (March 9, 2019) at UFC Fight Night 146 in Wichita, Kansas, “Cigano” says he’d love the chance to face Cormier for the division title.

“I will win here and I would be very glad to face Daniel Cormier,” Dos Santos said. “Daniel Cormier is a different champion. He has achieved some amazing things in his career and for me it would be very nice to be facing him. I hope I could be the next one, but I don’t really care. What I really want is to keep myself active. I want to fight as soon as possible after this victory and whatever happens in this career, I know my title shot is coming very soon,” he concluded.
