McGregor gave a straight answer for once to questions about his next fight, telling ABC news he’s in negotiations and targeting July.
Conor McGregor has made a lot of Twitter noise over the past couple of weeks, seemingly courting fights with both Donald “Cowboy” Cerrone and Nate Diaz simultaneously. But was he really being serious? Or were these fight night tweetstorms more the result of idle hands than itchy trigger fingers?
Whatever the case, we now have McGregor telling us what his plan is upfront while being interviewed by an ABC News affiliate for Chicago’s St. Patrick’s day parade.
After some fun bits about Conor’s past as a plumber, the reporter asks Conor if he’s got a fight coming up and Conor let the cat out of the bag.

”Yes, we’re currently in negotiations, we’re aiming for July, we’ll see what happens,” McGregor said. “I am staying ready. This morning I was doing incline sprints on the treadmill on my program, the McGregorFast program, today in a hotel room. So we’re staying on it, getting work in as we go.”
So don’t be fooled by all the Proper 12 related travel, late night clubbing, and jail time, McGregor is still keeping in fighting shape. Whether he’ll need to go three rounds or five is still up in the air, as is who he’ll fight. If we were betting folk, we’d lean more towards “Cowboy” than Diaz, but you never know what fight could come together when Conor McGregor gets to pick.
