Former Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) lightweight champion, Conor McGregor, thinks longtime color commentator, Joe Rogan, is a great man with a huge following and impressive podcast guests.
His fight calling, however, may need some work.
McGregor had an issue with Rogan’s commentary during the UFC 202 pay-per-view (PPV) event in late 2016, as well as the UFC 229 extravaganza last October. “Notorious” won the former, but came up short in the latter.
“I’d like him to call a fight how he sees it correctly and not be reading off a script,” McGregor said (via BJPenn.com). “The Diaz rematch it was like he was reading from the first fight and that last one, he was talking about my face was being smashed in. I left that Octagon with a black eye, the same way [Nurmagomedov’s] two rat cousins left. His brother and his cousin left the Octagon with a black eye, so what is he talking about?”
Criticism for his commentating is nothing new for Rogan, who drew the ire of former welterweight champion Matt Hughes back in 2007, claiming the former Fear Factor host had no idea what he was talking about when it came to cage fighting.
Maybe that’s why UFC gave him a script?
