For those of you fortunate enough to have never taken any damage to the face, let me assure you that getting a flush slap at full power can sometimes be as bad (or worse) than eating an actual punch, simply because of the real estate an open hand can cover.
The pain is unbelievable.
That’s why I give credit to these lunatics who entered the Male Slapping Championships, and one look at the embedded video above can give you a pretty good idea of what happens when a burly Russian with a low center of gravity gets his weight behind it.

I’ve seen a lot of weird shit in combat sports, having covered this wacky industry for more than a decade. I think my favorite, outside of this slap-happy competition, is XARM, the full-contact arm-wrestling league that allows shots to the dome.
