Anthony Pettis says he is going to ‘shock the world’ with his striking at UFC on ESPN+ 6
Anthony Pettis will look to return to form when he takes on fellow striker Stephen Thompson at UFC on ESPN+ 6, and the former WEC and UFC lightweight champion says he has a few tricks up his sleeve.
Pettis, who is perhaps most known for his infamous ‘Showtime’ kick against Benson Henderson at WEC 53, is planning to ‘shock the world’ with his striking on Saturday night.
“@WonderboyMMA‘s success with his karate in the Octagon is one of the reasons why I chose this fight.”

“My gameplan — striking — is gonna shock the world,” a confident Pettis said ahead of his headlining bout with ‘Wonderboy.’ “I feel like the way I’m gonna attack this fight, no one’s seen it before and I’m just gonna continue building off of this.”
Pettis last fought at last year’s blockbuster UFC 229 pay-per-view, losing to No. 1-ranked lightweight contender Tony Ferguson in the co-main event. The bout earned Fight of the Night honors, with both men showcasing a fantastic display of striking.
UFC on ESPN+ 6, also known as UFC Fight Night 148, will mark Pettis’ welterweight debut in the Octagon. The event takes place this Saturday, March 23 at Bridgestone Arena in Nashville, Tennessee.
