It appears Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) would warmly welcome Urijah Faber back to the promotion’s featherweight division, having already tried to lure him with 145-pound showdowns opposite Cub Swanson and Chan Sung Jung.
Faber, to date, has resisted the call of the Octagon.
But on today’s Ariel Helwani MMA Show, the former World Extreme Cagefighting (WEC) featherweight champion, who did most of his work at 135 pounds under the ZUFFA banner, is contemplating a 2019 return because he feels “amazing.”
Not getting punched in the head certainly has its perks.
Faber is still in the United States Anti-Doping Agency (USADA) testing pool and was part of the organization’s most recent round of tests. Keeping his name active with the regulating body prevents “The California Kid” from having to wait six months before returning.
Like this guy.
Nothing is official at this time and Faber, now 39, would be coming back to a division that is getting tougher by the minute (see the Top 15 here). Maybe he can pack on a few extra pounds and revisit this old feud?
