Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) strawweight champion, Rose Namajunas, makes her long-awaited return to mixed martial arts (MMA) when she battles top 115-pound contender, Jessica Andrade, at the upcoming UFC 237 pay-per-view (PPV) event on May 11, 2019 inside Jeunesse Arena in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
Both champion and challenger came face-to-face at the UFC 237 media day on Thursday in Brazil, and the most noticeable thing about their staredown was the discrepancy in size. Namajunas (9-3) stands just 5’5” with a 65” reach, but was still the much larger fighter. Andrade (19-6) is a mere 5’1” with a 61” reach.
Not that her tiny stature has stopped “Bate Estaca” from winning fights. The former bantamweight holds consecutive wins over Karolina Kowalkiewicz, Tecia Torres, and Claudia Gadelha. That might explain why she opened as the -120 favorite against “Thug Rose.”
