Robert Whittaker is on the road to recovery.
After a collapsed bowel and internal hernia forced him out of his middleweight title defense against Kelvin Gastelum just 24 hours before UFC 234, ‘The Reaper’ posted on Facebook that he is back into ‘full training.’

“Very happy to be back into full training now!! Thanks to all my team and supporters for everything,” Whittaker posted on Thursday.
Shortly after it was announced that Whittaker would be sidelined for the foreseeable future, the UFC booked an interim middleweight title bout between Gastelum and Israel Adesanya. The two middleweights will co-headline next month’s UFC 236 pay-per-view at the State Farm Arena in Atlanta, Georgia on April 13.
Whittaker, whose last title defense came against Yoel Romero at UFC 225, expects to return to the Octagon sometime between June and August. The reigning middleweight champion will look to unify the titles against the winner of Gastelum vs. Adesanya.
