There is a championship belt on the line in both the main event and co-main event of UFC 236 tonight (Sat., April 13, 2019) from inside State Farm Arena in Atlanta, Georgia. One intriguing aspect of those two contests is that this is the first time in Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) history that more than one interim title will be awarded on a single fight card.
Those bouts headlining this ESPN+ PPV event are UFC Featherweight champion, Max ‘Blessed’ Holloway, against Dustin ‘The Diamond’ Poirier in the lightweight division, and Kelvin Gastelum versus Israel ‘The Last Stylebender’ Adesanya at middleweight. In my opinion those two fights alone, even without belts on the line, would be worth handing Dana White and the gang a bit of my wallet lettuce. However, I understand if purchasing this event just isn’t in the cards for you right now.
I’ve already secured my entrance beyond the paywall for a chance to see a few incredible bouts. With my purchase I aim to provide you with a radio-style play-by-play broadcast of each eye-poke, groin strike, highlight-reel knockout, etc. that is on the other side of the monetary blockade. My style might be more cringe worthy than Kelvin Gastelum walking around with Henry Cejudo’s belt, but during the entirety of UFC 236’s PPV main card I will be doing my best to keep fight fans on the, hopefully, intoxicating displays of mixed martial arts (MMA) violence starting at 10 p.m. ET in the video player above.
As an added bonus, Eddie Mercado from Bloody Elbow will be joining me at certain times during the broadcast to help me with fight predictions and quick recaps.
Here’s what’s in store tonight with UFC 236’s PPV main card:
155 lbs.: Max Holloway vs Dustin Poirier
185 lbs.: Kelvin Gastelum vs Israel Adesanya
205 lbs.: Eryk Anders vs Khalil Rountree
170 lbs.: Alan Jouban vs Dwight Grant
205 lbs.: Ovince Saint Preux vs Nikita Krylov
