Jon Fitch isn’t happy with the judges after his majority draw with Rory MacDonald at Bellator 220.

After his majority draw with Rory MacDonald at Bellator 220, Jon Fitch has called for new people to be judging fights as he disagreed with the scorecards on the night.

Fitch fought MacDonald in the main event of Bellator 220. In the third round, all three judges gave Fitch a 10-8 round as he dominated “The Red King” on the ground. The draw meant MacDonald advanced into the next round of the welterweight grand prix.

Unhappy and ‘in shock’ following the result, Fitch explained to BJPenn.com why he thinks he should be advancing to the next round.

“I don’t know. I’m still kind of in shock as you don’t think that would be a possible outcome,” Fitch said. “I prepare for the win or the loss, not a tie. I think I won, I think I should be moving on. Now, I just have to sit back and be prepared. I’m probably going to be the first alternate in case someone gets hurt along the way.

The 41-year-old’s corner was adamant that Fitch had won at least three rounds, and his trainer Bob Cook expected Fitch to get the nod by way of split decision. Fitch continued by saying we need new judges in MMA after the questionable result.

“‘Crazy’ Bob [Cook] knows we have bad luck so he wasn’t ready to say I had won it yet,” he added. “He was thinking I was going to win a split decision. Rest of my corner thought we won at least three rounds after watching it back I am pretty certain I won four rounds. So I am not sure what the judges were watching. I don’t know what is going on. We need some new people judging fights I guess.”

Fitch has also contemplated retiring after the disappointment of not advancing in the $1 million tournament.
