Adesanya responds to Romero: All he can say is ‘I am Groot!’

Israel Adesanya rips Yoel Romero for his famed one-liner.

Feared UFC middleweight contender Yoel Romero isn’t exactly known for his trash talk. ‘I see you soon, boi’ seems to be his go-to call out, and Israel Adesanya was having none of that when he responded to ‘Solder of God’ on Twitter this Sunday.

Adesanya, who beat Kelvin Gastelum in a Fight of the Night epic at UFC 236 to win the interim middleweight title, recently went on a tirade against Romero in a series of tweets and ‘The Last Stylebender’ didn’t let up when ‘Solder of God’ eventually responded.

“…all this ni**a can say is “I am Groot!” #iluhjutoo,” Adesanya posted in response to Romero.

Although Adesanya vs. Romero has all the makings of a classic, Adesanya is expected to challenge official middleweight champ Robert Whittaker in a title unification bout later this year. As of now, no date or venue has been announced, but Whittaker has suggested having the matchup take place on the same card as the proposed lightweight title fight between Khabib Nurmagomedov and Dustin Poirier in his hometown of Sydney, Australia.

As for Romero, the 42-year-old is currently sidelined due to illness. The Cuban was forced to pull out of his headlining fight against ‘Jacare’ Souza at UFC on ESPN 3 after contracting pneumonia.
