With the Brock Lesnar fight now gone, UFC heavyweight champion Daniel Cormier has named his final two opponents.

Ever since he won the UFC heavyweight title at UFC 226 last July, Daniel Cormier has been campaigning hard for a Brock Lesnar fight. But last week, the WWE star reportedly failed to reach an agreement with the UFC and decided to just walk away, ultimately ending any possibilities for this matchup.

Now, “DC” shifted his focus back to those on the active roster. His first order of business is a rematch against Stipe Miocic, which is set for UFC 241 in Anaheim on August 17th.

And as early as now, Cormier is already confident he would pull off another win.

“I just don’t know how I can beat him better than I beat him last time,” he said during Monday’s episode of the Ariel Helwani MMA Show on ESPN (transcript via MMA Junkie). “But I intend on beating him again. I do believe that just stylistically, it’s a good matchup for me.

“I just feel I’m a better mixed martial artist than Stipe.”

After which, he intends to take care of one last unfinished business against rival Jon Jones, even after he had already lost interest just a year ago.

“It’s all I want. I think when I fight Jones, I feel most complete when I’m preparing for competition against that guy.

“If you want to get right competitively, you go back and get the one you lost,” he added. “If I don’t, trust me, I can be fine. But I’m just fiercely competitive. So when I say if there is another fight after (Miocic), it would have to be that one.”

Cormier last saw action at UFC 230 in November, where he successfully defended his title for the first time against Derrick Lewis. He has since been dealing with injuries, leading to his retirement plans to be pushed back.
