Anderson Silva isn’t ranked for the first time in forever.
It might very well be the end of a middleweight era. Ever since the official UFC rankings were put in place, and for many years before that, Anderson Silva has been one of the top 15 185-pounders in the world. But following a UFC 237 TKO injury loss to Jared Cannonier, that is no longer the case – Silva is not ranked this week.
There were some other changes too though. There are two new members of the P4P list, a new top contender at 145 pounds, and some flip-flopping in a few other divisions.
Here’s a look at all the changes coming out of UFC 237.ki
P4P – Valentina Shevchenko enters the list at 14, while new strawweight champ Jessica Andrade comes in at 15. Cris Cyborg and Rose Namajunas fall off the list.
Heavyweight – For some reason, Justin Willis disappeared. He was at number 12 and now he’s gone. So Marcin Tybura, Blagoy Ivanov, and Augusto Sakai all moved up a spot to 12-14 respectively. Walt Harris is in at 15.
Light Heavyweight – No changes.
Middleweight – Elias Theodorou is up one to 14. David Branch is back in the rankings at 15. Silva is officially gone from the list after losing via injury to Jared Cannonier.
Welterweight – No changes.
Lightweight – Islam Makhachev is up two spots to 13. James Vick and Charles Oliveira fell one spot each to 14 and 15.
Featherweight – There’s a new number one contender. Alexander Volkanovski sits atop the contender list after beating Jose Aldo. Aldo fell two spots to three. Frankie Edgar fell one spot to four, but it will be Edgar who gets the next shot at champion Max Holloway.
Bantamweight – No changes.
Flyweight – The UFC released Magomed Bibulatov, so everyone below him moved up a spot. He did occupy the eight position, but that now belongs to Ryan Benoit. Jordan Espinosa, Kai Kara France, Eric Shelton, Alex Perez, Raulian Paiva, and Matt Schnell all moved up a spot to 9 through 14. Joseph Morales enters the rankings at 15.
Women’s Bantamweight – Irene Aldana is up two spots to nine. Sara McMann and Macy Chiasson fall one to 10 and 11. Lina Lansberg and Bethe Correia flop-flop 13 and 14. Sijara Eubanks enters at 15. Talita Bernardo is out.
Women’s Flyweight – No changes.
Women’s Strawweight – With Andrade as the new champ, Namajunas falls to the number one contender spot. Tatiana Suarez moves up to number two, with Joanna Jedrzejczyk dropping to three. Nina Ansaroff is up one to four.
