Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) was forced to reshuffle a pair of its upcoming mixed martial arts (MMA) fight cards after the UFC Minneapolis main event fell apart. That means the UFC 239 pay-per-view (PPV) line up is down one heavyweight hoss fight.
Promotion president Dana White was right, it’s always something with Tyron Woodley.
According to a report from ESPN, the titanic tilt between Francis Ngannou and Junior dos Santos, ranked No. 2 and No. 3, respectively, will be moved from July 6 to June 29, pending official bout agreements later this week.
Woodley was expected to rematch Robbie Lawler in the UFC Minneapolis headliner; however, a hand injury torpedoed those plans. It appears “Ruthless” balked at this list of potential replacements and will instead wait for a later booking.
UFC 239 is topped by the light heavyweight title fight pitting Jon Jones (champion) opposite Thiago Santos (challenger). As far as UFC Minneapolis, the Ngannou-Dos Santos main event is anchored by a Joseph Benavidez vs. Jussier Formiga co-headliner.
