Flyweights Deiveson Figueiredo and Alexandre Pantoja are reportedly set to meet in Canada.
A battle of fellow Brazilian flyweights is headed to Edmonton, Canada, in July. According to Combate’s report, contenders Deiveson Figueiredo and Alexandre Pantoja are set to face each other at UFC 240.
Undefeated up until his last outing, Deiveson Figueiredo (15-1) had started his UFC career 4-0, with victories over the likes of Marco Beltran, Jarred Brooks, Joseph Morales and John Moraga. His undefeated record came to an end when he dropped a unanimous decision back in March, when he was bested by Jussier Formiga.
A rising contender in the flyweight division, Alexandre Pantoja (21-3) is on a three-fight winning streak, having defeated Brandon Moreno, Ulka Sasaki and most recently former title challenger Wilson Reis in April. The 29-year-old’s last loss came in January 2018, when Dustin Ortiz defeated him by unanimous decision.
UFC 240 is scheduled to happen at Rogers Place in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. The card will be headlined by a featherweight title fight between the champion, Max Holloway, and former lightweight champion Frankie Edgar.
