It looks like former UFC featherweight and lightweight champ Conor McGregor is currently injured.
It’s teased that UFC star Conor McGregor could return to the Octagon this summer, but that date could be pushed back due to the Irishman picking up a hand injury in sparring.
McGregor, the former UFC ‘champ-champ,’ recently posted a photo on social media of his left hand in a cast but, according to ESPN’s Ariel Helwani, ‘the injury isn’t believed to be serious.’
Despite suffering an injury, McGregor seems more to determined than ever to keep pushing himself in the training room, posting on Instagram, “intense training and sparring sessions, I will always push it to the limits. This comes off and I push on! The Proper Don! Nothing will stop me.”
McGregor announced his retirement in March but recently admitted in an interview with Tony Robbins that he used the announcement as a negotiating tactic to update his UFC contract.
‘The Notorious’ last fought at UFC 229, where he was submitted by undefeated lightweight champion Khabib Nurmagomedov in the fourth round of the blockbuster main event at Las Vegas’ T-Mobile Arena.
McGregor has expressed interest in a rematch with Khabib, as well as a rematch with pound-for-pound boxing great Floyd Mayweather Jr., who TKO’d the Dubliner in the 10th round of their PPV-smashing boxing match in 2017.
“I believe I would win,” McGregor said of a possible rematch with Floyd. “Actually, there I go again with the fake humbleness — I know I would win.”
