You should always be willing to watch one of Donald Cerrone’s greatest finishing moves of his legendary MMA career.
We are two weeks away from UFC 238, and while there are two championship fights topping the card, the unofficial “real” main event has to be Donald Cerrone and Tony Ferguson in what is surely a #1 contender’s matchup at lightweight.
Before we get to that highly anticipated scrap, let’s hit the rewind button and take you back to UFC 202 on August 20th, 2016. “Cowboy” faced off against Rick Story up at welterweight, turning in one of the best performances of his career. Story is notoriously hard to stop, and Cerrone’s ridiculous video game-esque combo ended Story’s night just shy of the midway point in round two.
You can watch the full video at the top of the page.
Here’s Dallas Winston’s play-by-play of the ending:
R2: Cerrone lands a high kick with the foot. Counter-knee from Cerrone as Story’s coming in to change levels. Cerrone rips two right hands to the jaw of Story, then lands an outside low kick to the thigh. Now an outside low kick to the lead leg followed by another well-timed counter knee to the body.
Cerrone drills Story with a right cross to the body, then catches Story with a right kick to the face as he’s hunched over. Story turns his back and stumbles into the fence. Cerrone finishes him off with right hands.
Donald Cerrone defeats Rick Story by TKO (punches) R2 2:02
