Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) is not unlike most at-will employers these days. If they don’t want you around, regardless of performance, you get sent packing. That’s why Sage Northcutt was bounced after winning three straight fights inside the Octagon.
Joining the “Super” star on the freedom trail is middleweight “Spartan,” Elias Theodorou, who captured the glass trophy on The Ultimate Fighter (TUF): “Nations” realty show back in early 2014.
According to a report from Combate, the 30 year-old Canadian was part of the latest round of UFC roster cuts that included flyweights Wilson Reis and Eric Shelton, along with struggling heavyweight Marcelo Golm.
Theodorou (16-3) went 8-3 for UFC and won four of his last five. His last performance, a tepid decision loss to Derek Brunson in the UFC Ottawa co-main event, left a lot to be desired and was the eighth straight time “The Spartan” went to the judges’ scorecards.
Reis (23-10), meanwhile, dropped three of his last four after failing to dethrone then-champion Demetrious Johnson at UFC on FOX 24. In addition, both Shelton (12-6) and Golm (6-3) failed to produce winning records inside the Octagon.
Goodbye UFC … hello ONE Championship?
