“I’ll destroy Jonny. I was destroying him in college, man, dumping him on his head every day in practice.”
After initially making a peace offering to Jon Jones, controversial welterweight Colby Covington is back on the offensive.
Speaking to BJPenn.com in a recent interview, ‘Chaos’ said he would ‘destroy’ Jones in the Octagon, claiming that he used to slam the reigning UFC light heavyweight champion on his head every day in wrestling practice.
“I think it was time sensitive,” Covington said of his peace offering to ‘Bones’. “I’ll destroy Jonny. I was destroying him in college, man, dumping him on his head every day in practice. You can go ask anybody in the Iowa Central wrestling room that was there when we were there.”
Covington also ripped Jones for his use of performance-enhancing drugs, claiming that the 31-year-old wouldn’t be half the fighter he was if not for PEDs.
‘I’d love to get my hands on Jonny picograms, man,” he said. “If you didn’t have all those picograms in his system, he wouldn’t be the same fighter he is today. He’s a fucking piece of s**t.”
Jones is expected to defend his light heavyweight title against Brazilian knockout artist Thiago Santos at UFC 239. The highly anticipated PPV takes place on July 6 at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.
As for Covington, the former interim welterweight champ is gearing up for his proposed title fight against Kamaru Usman, although no date or venue has been announced for the bout.
