Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) flyweight sensation, Paige VanZant, has just one fight remaining on her current contract and was hoping to get that taken care of as quickly as July; however, her “stupid arm” had other ideas.
Like a third trip to the surgeon.
That’s according to a conversation “12 Gauge” had with ESPN, indicating that her plan is to make a second appearance in 2019 after what — assuming everything goes according to schedule — will be a three-month layoff.
“After the second surgery, I said, ‘If I break my arm again, I’m quitting. I’m just not meant to fight,’” the 25 year-old VanZant said. “But now that I’ve done it again, I’m at a point where it’s like, ‘No. I just don’t give a shit anymore. My stupid arm is not going to stop me.’ I need one more surgery, and I’m going to be fine.”
VanZant (8-4) was last seen taking a submission win over Rachael Ostovich at UFC Fight Night 143 back in January. “12 Gauge” has not won back-to-back fights in nearly four years and needs a big performance in her final UFC bout if she wants to re-up under better terms.
Otherwise she’ll have a new target on her back.
