Former Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) interim lightweight champion, Tony Ferguson, had some personal problems earlier this year, serious enough to bring a temporary halt to his mixed martial arts (MMA) career.

So, not surprisingly, both fans and pundits wondered aloud if Ferguson was mentally fit to compete at the UFC 238 pay-per-view (PPV) event this weekend in Chicago, where “El Cucuy” takes on longtime lightweight “Cowboy,” Donald Cerrone.

“I tell them to fuck off,” Ferguson told MMA Junkie. “Stop worrying about shit you can’t handle, man. It’s not your fucking problem. You really want to fucking worry about how I am? Buy my fucking pay-per-view. Send me some money, send me whatever, I don’t give a shit. But quit asking dumbass questions. You want to keep asking me those questions, I’m going to say fuck you. Straight up. I’m back, motherfuckers.”

Professionally, Ferguson (24-3) has been flawless over the last seven years, racking up 11 straight wins with eight violent finishes. That includes last October’s technical knockout victory over former lightweight champion, Anthony Pettis.

Personally, the 35 year-old title contender is still trying to put a complicated domestic situation behind him after getting some much-needed professional help. I guess we’ll find out this weekend just how far along “El Cucuy” has come against one of the division’s most lethal veterans.
