Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) held a special pre-fight press conference earlier today to promote the Khabib Nurmagomedov vs. Dustin Poirier lightweight title unification bout, recently made official for the upcoming UFC 242 pay-per-view (PPV) event on Sat., Sept. 7, 2019 on Yas Island in Abu Dhabi.
At the conclusion of the Central London gathering, Nurmagomedov, the reigning UFC lightweight champion, came face-to-face with the current interim 155-pound titleholder, Dustin Poirier.
Much like the press conference itself, this was about the actual fight and the two warriors who are set to compete. There was no arguing about Noah, or broken bus windows, or any of that other garbage fight fans have become accustomed to.
Maybe that makes the UFC 242 headliner less interesting, but you can only play the hand you’re dealt. Nurmagomedov is always telling opponents to be humble and well, Poirier has never been much of a trash talker.
This one is all about skill.
