Tyson Fury came to Las Vegas, and he got it done, stopping Tom Schwarz in two rounds.
Tyson Fury def. Tom Schwarz, TKO (Round 2, 2:54)
In his Las Vegas debut on ESPN+, lineal Heavyweight champion Tyson Fury came in to make a statement, and he succeeded. It took Fury just under two rounds to put overmatched opponent Tom Schwarz away, earning a TKO victory in the closing seconds of round two.
Fury started the fight well, clearly showing he was the better man right from the start. But it was round two where he really started picking up the pace. Fury was able to land some nice shots on Schwarz early in the round. Schwarz tried to come back and trap Fury against the ropes to unleash his own offense, but Fury showed off his excellent defense, using head and body movement to slip the punches. Fury then landed a hard shot that put Schwarz on the mat. He regained his feet, but did not look all the way mentally back in it. With little time left on the clock, referee Kenny Bayless let it continue, and Fury swarmed in, pinning Schwarz in the corner and unloading an impressive barrage. Schwarz was basically just covering up, and Bayless stepped in to wave the fight off.
Fury is now 28-0-1 with 20 KO wins. Schwarz drops to 24-1, suffering his first loss.
In the post-fight interview, Fury said he’ll be fighting once more in 2019 in late September/early October, and then in 2020 coming for Deontay Wilder in a rematch of one of 2018’s biggest fights. Then he sang “I Don’t Want To Miss A Thing.”
