Bloody Elbow’s own Nick Baldwin had the opportunity to speak with the talented Brazilian MMA fighter headlining the event agains the Korean Zombie, none-other-than Renato “Moicano” Carneiro.
Two top-ranked Featherweights headline the UFC’s first-ever South Carolina card on Saturday, June 22nd, 2019 at UFC on ESPN+ 12 in Greenville and Bloody Elbow’s own Nick Baldwin had the opportunity to speak with the talented Brazilian MMA fighter headlining the event against the Korean Zombie, none-other-than Renato “Moicano” Carneiro.
Renato’s been fighting since 2010 and is looking to “beat him… get Zombie out of the way” for a win to get back into title contention. He intends to “train as hard as (he) can and fight has hard as (he) can and controlling the pace”, furthermore he “will not respect Korean Zombie” (like he did José Aldo) he will “put his weapons out and show to the people what I can do… and one day prove I am the best in the world… don’t blink, it will be a show”.
Moicano is ranked as #4 Current Best MMA Featherweight Fighter currently, with a 13-2-1 Record. His one recent loss out of his two was to José Aldo at UFC on ESPN+ 2 in February, via TKO-Punches at 0:44 in round two, the other was to Brian Ortega. His last victory was an overwhelming POTN quick finish over Cub Swanson via Rear Naked Choke at 4:15 in round 1 back in August, 2018. He says he wants to “put my name right on the top, I want to fight with the best and I want to be the champion, this is the goal of my life”.
His competitor is known for always bringing it. The UFC veteran Chan Sung Jung, aka: “The Korean Zombie” currently holds a 14-5-0, with his most recent loss to Yair Rodriguez at UFC FN 139 in November, 2018 via Elbow at 4:59 in round 5 which was touted as a Fight of the Year contender. His last victory was over Dennis Bermudez via Punch at only 2:49 in round one back in February 2017… his fight gap was due to military duty and injuries. Due to this gap, at this time he is ranked #14 Current Best MMA Featherweight Fighter, but “that doesn’t change that he is tough, was a top-five contender, who fought for the belt”.
Odds on the fight are currently listed as Moicano: (-175) and Jung: (+135)
