“The Happy Warrior” has a new opponent for UFC San Antonio.

Jennifer Maia has stepped up on short notice for Liz Carmouche and is set to meet Roxanne Modafferi on the July 20 card, ESPN reported Wednesday.

Carmouche was pulled from the Modafferi fight last weekend in favor of a UFC women’s flyweight title shot against champion Valentina Shevchenko at UFC Uruguay on Aug. 10.

Modafferi and Maia have already met once. Maia successfully defended the Invicta FC flyweight title against Modafferi by split decision in 2016. It was Maia’s first title defense.

Since then, both fighters have signed with the UFC. Modafferi, who contributes to Bloody Elbow, is 2-2 in her second Octagon stint, most recently defeating Antonina Shevchenko by decision at UFC St. Petersburg in April.

Maia lost her UFC debut last summer to Liz Carmouche, but bounced back in March with a decision win over former bantamweight title challenger Alexis Davis.

UFC San Antonio is headlined by a pivotal welterweight bout between ex-lightweight titleholder Rafael dos Anjos and Leon Edwards.
