Artem Lobov earned the praise of Conor McGregor following his win over Paulie Malignaggi at BKFC 6.
It wasn’t the most entertaining fight in the world, but Artem Lobov earned the biggest win of his career when he beat former two-division boxing world champion Paulie Malignaggi in a bare knuckle grudge match at BKFC 6 last weekend.
Due to the rivalry between Malignaggi and SBG Ireland, many expected Conor McGregor to be in attendance to support his teammate, Lobov.
McGregor was nowhere to be seen, however, but ‘The Russian Hammer’ said that the former UFC featherweight and lightweight champion congratulated him on his performance.
“I spoke to Conor, he said that was a good performance. I dominated the fight. I pressed the action all the time and he said it was a very good performance and a great win for me,” Lobov said on Monday’s edition of The MMA Hour, per MMA Fighting’s Damon Martin.
After the fight, Lobov and Malignaggi squashed their beef and it doesn’t look like ‘Magic Man’ will be pestering McGregor on social media anymore, either.
“When you fight someone, it’s different. It’s a lot of conflict that you can have. Once you fought somebody, that’s it,” Lobov said. “There’s not much to it anymore. You went in there, you settled it like men, one on one, and that’s it.
“After that, I don’t think there’s really a point to kind of carry it with you, any of that negativity. You just go on with your life, be positive, and just enjoy your life and be a happy person. That’s how it is for me.”
Malignaggi announced that he would be retiring for good following his loss to Lobov at BKFC 6. As for Lobov, the former UFC featherweight appears to be the new face of bare knuckle fighting.
