Gina Carano - Feb 2011With the announcement this past weekend that the parent company of the Ultimate Fighting Championship had purchased the Strikeforce promotion, the UFC is already making use of one of its formal rivals most popular personalities.

Female fighter Gina Carano (7-1) has apparently been tapped to help promote the upcoming THQ ‘UFC Personal Trainer’ video game later this month in New York. Despite UFC President Dana White’s statements that women will never fight in the UFC, due to a low talent pool, he and the rest of the company don’t seem to have any issues getting them to promote their latest venture into the video game market.

The news of Carano’s appearance in New York was posted by NewsDay.com.

Wondering how Strikeforce and UFC talent would blend in this new world now that UFC’s parent company, Zuffa LLC, bought Strikeforce on Saturday?

So is everyone else, but here’s one way: Gina Carano, a female mixed martial artist with a huge fan base because she’s a good fighter and a swell looker, will be in New York City on March 23 to help promote UFC Personal Trainer,…

Carano is set to make her return to the cage in June, likely at the upcoming Strikeforce show in Dallas, against an unknown opponent. Her return was announced in February at the Strikeforce: Fedor vs. Silva event.

The UFC Personal Trainer is a fighting and fitness video game that utilizes UFC superstars to get people into shape using mma training techniques and is expected to be released on April 1.

UFC middleweight Jon Fitch was even tagged as one of the games “fitness trainers” as he video blogged about it recently. Check out his video after the jump
