“Joe Rogan, I would like to formally invite you to be my cornerman in my first ONE Championship fight.”
Just a year after announcing his retirement from MMA, UFC legend Vitor Belfort will return to action at ONE Championship sometime later this year.
No date or venue has been announced for Belfort’s ONE FC debut, but ‘The Phenom’ would like none other than Joe Rogan to be in his corner when he inevitably steps into the ring.
Belfort extended the following invitation to Rogan via Instagram.
“Joe Rogan and I made our UFC debuts on the same night. I became the youngest fighter to ever win a UFC ____, and Joe embarked on his incredible career as the voice of the UFC. We also share the same respect for ONE Championship. @yodchatri and his team @onechampionship are changing the game for fighters and fans. @joerogan, I would like to formally invite you to be my cornerman in my first ONE Championship fight. I admire your dedication to the sport, and I would love to have that knowledge, and that voice, in my corner,” Belfort posted on Friday.
Rogan has a background in Taekwondo and Brazilian Jiu Jitsu but the longtime UFC commentator and renowned podcast host has never fought in a professional capacity nor cornered anyone to fight. Rogan did, however, teach Georges St-Pierre how to throw a nasty spinning side kick and has extensive knowledge of MMA, perhaps moreso than some some coaches.
Expect Rogan to issue a response to Belfort, or perhaps an invitation to the The Joe Rogan Experience, on his next podcast.
