Two of the UFC’s top UK fighters are set to face each other in a submission grappling match.
Two of the UK’s most talented MMA fighters are set to meet live on UFC Fight Pass, but it’s not going down in the Octagon. BloodyElbow.com has learned that leading BJJ promotion Polaris have signed a highly-anticipated match between Marc Diakiese and Chris Fishgold for the 11th edition of their popular submission grappling showcase.
Liverpudlian Fishgold is a black belt under Paul Rimmer and has a lot of experience on the UK grappling scene. Fishgold has scored 13 submission wins on the pro circuit and notably won via submission against David Teymur at UFC on ESPN+ 3. In many respects, Fishgold is one of the most decorated MMA grapplers in the UK and should be heavily favoured for his upcoming Polaris bout.
Marc Diakiese is the polar opposite to Chris Fishgold. While fight fans know Fishgold for his grapple-heavy style, Diakiese is known best for his varied striking approach. Diakiese is an explosive striker with a lone submission victory on his record and is only a purple belt. While Fishgold has the experience advantage, Diakiese is showing a lot of ambition by stepping up to take on this big grappling match.
Polaris 11 goes down on August 31st in Manchester, England and will be aired live on UFC Fight Pass.
