Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) is returning to Mexico on September 21 to stage a Fight Night event in Mexico City. While not many fights have been confirmed for the event, the promotion is looking at locking down an interesting Featherweight bout that should get fans excited.
According to Chris Taylor, UFC is looking to book a fight between former 145-pound title contenders Brian Ortega and Chan Sung Jung, which could be the potential headliner.
BREAKING! Korean Zombie vs Brian Ortega is in the works for September 21 in Mexico City. It is not a title shot but according to TKZ’s camp, it is “the next best thing”. Worth adding that Chan Sung Jung still wants to compete December 21 in Korea.

Ortega is looking to bounce back after suffering a fourth-round stoppage loss to current UFC Featherweight champion, Max Holloway, last December at UFC 231 (see it again here). The loss was “T-City’s” first, ending his 14-fight win streak.
Prior to the defeat, Ortega had picked up huge wins over the likes of Renato Moicano, Cub Swanson and was the first person to ever knockout Frankie Edgar. After undergoing surgery to take care of some damage he suffered at the hands of “Blessed,” Brian is ready to get back into the thick of things at 145 pounds.
“The Korean Zombie,” meanwhile, is fresh off a lightning-quick knockout victory over the aforementioned Moicano, putting the Brazilian bomber to sleep in just 58 seconds a few weeks ago in South Carolina (highlights). The win was Jung’s first since 2017, previously getting knocked out himself by Yair Rodriguez.
With both men having a well-rounded attacks that can see either of them twist you up like a pretzel or take you on in the striking department, the matchup has the makings of an all-out war, as the fan-favorites never fail to deliver.
That said, should this bout get the seal of approval, what’s your early prediction?
