Darren Till has all but confirmed his move to middleweight.
It looks like top-five UFC welterweight contender Darren Till will be moving up to middleweight following his devastating knockout loss to Jorge Masvidal at UFC Fight Night 147.
That’s if his latest Instagram post is to be taken seriously, where ‘The Gorilla’ called out the entire UFC middleweight division with the following caption.
“Come den motherf—king middleweights. Thanks @jefersonfajardo for the training. It’s good to be back in Getting some time in.” – Darren Till
Till who, prior to his loss to Masvidal was submitted by then-welterweight champion Tyron Woodley at UFC 228, has struggled with weight cutting in the past and has missed weight in two out of eight bouts under the UFC banner.
Till was one of the bigger welterweights on the UFC roster and the 26-year-old believes he will be ‘right in the mix’ at 185-pounds.
“I wouldn’t be small at 185,” Till said in a recent interview with Fighters Only magazine. “I’d be right in the mix in there with them guys. The great guy, the interim champ Israel (Adesanya) is a great fighter. The champ (Robert Whittaker) is a good fighter. There’s a few beasts. The one guy who is a scary guy is Yoel (Romero).”
The current middleweight champion is Robert Whittaker, and the 28-year-old is expected to unify the titles against interim champ Israel Adesanya at UFC 243 on October 6.
