A Light Heavyweight showdown between Volkan Oezdemir and Ilir Latifi — which was scheduled to go down at the upcoming UFC on ESPN 5 event on Aug. 3 in Newark, New Jersey — is getting a new location.
According to ESPN’s Brett Okamoto, visa issues have forced Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) to move the fight to UFC Fight Night 156, set to go down a week later on Sat., Aug. 10, 2019 inside Antel Arena in Montevideo, Uruguay.
No word on which fighter had the problems with his visa.
This isn’t the first time a fight between Latifi and Oezdemir has hit a speed bump, as their initial fight — scheduled for UFC Fight Night 153 last month — was axed adn oved to UFC on ESPN 5 after Latifi suffered a back injury.
UFC Fight Night 156 is set to feature a women’s Flyweight championship fight as division queen, Valentina Shevchenko, will face Liz Carmouche in the headlining act.
As far as UFC on ESPN 5 is concerned, that card will be headlined by an intriguing Welterweight matchup between Colby Covington and Robbie Lawler, with Jim Miller and Clay Guida set to serve as co-headliner.
