Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) light heavyweight champion, Jon Jones, has been generating some pretty unflattering headlines this week, thanks to an alleged vagina-smacking visit to the local strip club that ended in a charge of misdemeanor battery.
Jones vehemently denies allegations that he accosted a female employee and now he’s drawing support from one of his biggest fans in Colby Covington. “Chaos” bunked with “Bones” back in their college days and instead of looking at the negatives, the top welterweight contender wants us to celebrate the positives.
“A lot of pundits trying to tarnish the good name of my buddy Jon Jones,” Covington wrote on Twitter. “Can we take a moment and acknowledge: A) At least this time the woman he hit wasn’t pregnant, B) Jon was mature enough not to strike her with a car at high speed while intoxicated. He’s making progress people!”
Jones was arrested for felony hit-and-run back in 2015 after plowing into a pregnant woman and sending her to the hospital. He was also charged with DUI a couple of years earlier, smacking into a utility pole with his new Bentley.
Since returning from his drug-test suspension late last year, Jones has been trying to rebuild his public image. How this latest hiccup affects those plans remains to be seen, but at least he’s got Covington on hand for moral support.
