Sorry Sensei Kreese, but we do train to be merciful here.
Or at least at American Top Team (ATT), where heavyweight up-and-comer, Greg Hardy, plies his violent trade. The “Prince of War” recently passed on the opportunity to bury his former opponent, Juan Adams, after stopping him at UFC San Antonio last weekend on ESPN.
Watch the replay here.
It would have been completely understandable, too, as “The Kraken” threw all kinds of shade at Hardy for his troubled past, as well as his handful of appearances for Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC). Adams also blew up and stormed out after their fight.
Instead, Hardy extended an olive branch and asked the fans for compassion.
“Let’s give Juan Adams a second chance,” Hardy wrote on Instagram. “I see people bashing him and reacting to his reaction. But let’s remember when we were asking for my second chance. Let’s be the change and extend a hand of understanding and believe he can be better. God bless you Juan and thank you for the scrap.”
The call for empathy did not go unnoticed.
“I know social media apologies mean nothing but I sincerely apologize for the headache I may have caused you,” Adams commented. “I spoke to your uncle in the lobby and it opened my eyes to a lot. Have a good career.”
Hardy (5-1) now has five wins as a professional cage fighter, with all five ending by way of knockout. Expect a (major?) step up in competition his next time out. As for Adams (5-2), he’s now 1-3 since graduating Dana White’s “Contender Series” back in summer 2018.
