WBC interim heavyweight champion Dillian Whyte has reportedly tested positive for one or more banned substances.
Following his unanimous decision win over Oscar Rivas last weekend, it seemed Dillian Whyte was going be to next in line for the WBC heavyweight title. Now, that could be in jeopardy as a report states Whyte has tested positive for an unspecified banned substance.
Whyte dominated throughout the fight with Rivas but survived a knockdown in the ninth round to win a unanimous decision and claim the vacant WBC interim heavyweight title (115-112, 115-112, 116-111).
BoxingScene reports that an A-sample taken from Whyte tested positive for one or more banned substances before his fight on July 20th. The report also claims that UK Anti-Doping (UKAD) notified Whyte’s camp, and Matchroom Boxing, of the positive test before the fight took place, with the results being returned on July 17th.
Whyte will be allowed to wait for the results of his B-sample to see if that doesn’t flag up for the same banned substances. The BBoC (British Boxing Board of Control) were have said to let the fight go ahead with UKAD rules stating no sanctions could be issued until the whole process is complete.
“The Bodysnatcher” was suspended for two years in 2012 following his fight against Sandor Balogh after testing positive for the banned stimulant methylhexaneamine.
