Bare Knuckle Fighting Championship (BKFC) was forced to rework its main event for its Aug. 10 event in Biloxi, Miss., after an untimely injury to Jason Knight left fellow UFC veteran, Leonard Garcia, without a lightweight opponent.
Stepping in for “The Kid” will be Jim Alers, who competed against Knight in the UFC featherweight division back in 2016. “The Beast” was last seen at Crimea Rush in Ukraine, coming up short against Russian “Piranha” Marif Piraev.
”I’m excited and I have respect for Jim Alers,” said Garcia. “Being the headliner is a huge deal and I feel like we’re the finale for a reason. I know we’ll put on a show. I’m known for going all-out and August 10 will be no different!”
BKFC 7 will also feature the debut of former UFC lightweight Melvin Guillard, who makes his bare-knuckle debut opposite fellow Octagon veteran Isaac Vallie-Flagg.
I’m assuming the promotion is aware that “Alers vs. Garcia” might be a tough sell coming off the success of last month’s Artem Lobov vs. Paulie Malignaggi romp, which may explain why BKFC 7 will air live and free in the United States.
Broadcast details have yet to be announced.
”After tremendous feedback from BKFC 6, we are thrilled to be able to give back to the fans by offering BKFC 7 absolutely free to all fans in the United States,” said BKFC founder and president David Feldman.
Tickets, however, will not be free and you can scoop those up at www.bareknuckle.tv.
