I guess failure was an option after all.

Leave no man behind alive.

Former Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) middleweight Alex Schoenauer, who cut his teeth on season one of The Ultimate Fighter (TUF), has parlayed his mixed martial arts (MMA) experience into a successful career as a Hollywood stuntman.

Some of his credits include Fast Five and Transformers, just to name a few.

Turns out his most recent audition was close to being his last, as Schoenauer, 43, was reportedly shot with real bullets from a semi-automatic rifle when auditioning for Seal Team on CBS back in Sept. 2018.

That’s according to a report from TMZ.

The bullet exited through his upper torso, causing nerve damage and restrictions with his range of motion. Schoenauer is now suing JMP Productions, as well as the stunt coordinator, alleging that real bullets were used during the audition (presumably for authenticity).

I didn’t realize getting killed by friendly fire was good for ratings.

Schoenauer (15-10) came up short on TUF 1 after suffering a first-round technical knockout loss to Forrest Griffin on episode six. He returned for the live finale in April 2005, but was promptly put away by Mike Swick in just 20 seconds.
