Check out the betting odds for Saturday’s UFC Newark card, where Colby Covington is favored over Robbie Lawler in the main event.
It’s time for for a healthy dose of east coast MMA courtesy of UFC Newark. Bloody Elbow is back to provide the betting lines!
The top of the card will see a high-stakes welterweight tilt between stripped interim champ Colby Covington and former actual champ Robbie Lawler. The winner will likely challenge for the UFC’s 170-pound undisputed title. Covington is the one that has caught the attention of the oddsmakers and betting public alike. After starting out as a -170 betting favorite, Covington has dropped drifted out even further to his current mark of -225. As far as the betting world is concerned, Lawler straight up has been getting the silent treatment. After first opening up at +135, the former Miletich Fighting Systems product is now locked in as a +205 underdog.
The over/under for this 25-minute matchup has been assessed at 4.5 rounds. The ‘over’ is available with a favored line of -127 with the ‘under’ tracking at +112. The oddsmakers projected that this one would be going the distance, but the betting public isn’t making the same read. The prop bet ‘Fight doesn’t go to decision’ started out as a +100 underdog but has since dropped to a favored moneyline of -110. On the other side, ‘Fight goes to decision’ has shifted from -140 up to -120.
For those hoping to see Lawler get ruthless on Covington, ‘Lawler wins by TKO/KO’ is an option at +230 with ‘Any other result’ at -310. Going the other way, ‘Covington wins by TKO/KO’ can be had for an impossible +580, with ‘Any other result’ super-likely at -1140. For anyone expecting for Covington grind his way to a decision, the prop bet ‘Covington wins by decision’ can barely be acquired at underdog odds at +100, with ‘Not Covington by decision’ favored at -130. As for the former champ, ‘Lawler wins by decision’ owns a massive underdog line of +925 with ‘Not Lawler by decision’ massively favored at -1635.
In the co-main event slot for UFC Newark, New Jersey’s own Jim Miller will tangle with fellow MMA veteran Clay Guida in the lightweight division. Miller is fighter that has been marked as the betting favorite with a moneyline of -145. As for the ever-energetic Guida, he is on deck as a +135 underdog. The over/under for this 15-minute scrap has been set at 2.5 rounds. The ‘over’ is strongly favored at -167 with a +152 comeback on the ‘under.’ The bookies are banking on this one reaching the scorecards. ‘Fight goes to decision’ is on the table with a favored label of -160, with ‘Fight doesn’t go to decision’ holding as a +130 underdog.
