Montreal’s famed Tristar Gym is growing its list of superstars.

Tyron Woodley is making major changes in his training. On Monday’s episode of the Ariel Helwani MMA Show on ESPN, the former UFC welterweight champion announced his new association with the famed Tristar Gym in Montreal and fellow ex-champion Georges St-Pierre.

“It was a blessing to be able to train with Georges St-Pierre,” Woodley revealed. “Yes, people, I will be training with Georges St-Pierre. We will not fight, that’s very obvious.

“There’s no point for me not to train with one of the greatest, if not the greatest welterweight of all-time and sharpen myself.”

For “The Chosen One,” getting to train with a fighter of St-Pierre’s caliber is a source of motivation for him to get back to the winning track and eventually reclaim the title.

“That’s something that’s motivated me,” he said. “I can’t really act like the Kamaru Usman fight was motivating me. I can’t act like the Colby fight was motivating me beyond the fact that I just want to smash his face in.

“But this motivates me, it makes me excited. I’m eager to train, I’m eager to learn, and I’m excited about it.”

After losing his title to Kamaru Usman at UFC 235 in March, Woodley was scheduled to face Robbie Lawler in a rematch at UFC Minneapolis in late June. However, he had to pull out due to injury and has yet to schedule his next fight.
