Hey there happy and satisfied fight fans!
If this latest stretch of uninspiring and poor offerings from Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) has taught us anything it’s that Vacuum vs. Toaster is more watchable than Viviane Araujo vs. Alexis Davis. So it comes as no surprise that even UFC wants to look past its upcoming lackluster event this weekend (Sat., Aug. 10, 2019) — “Shevchenko vs. Carmouche 2” inside Antel Arena in Montevideo, Uruguay — in favor of highlighting the most successful pay-per-view (PPV) pairing ever inside the Octagon: Conor McGregor and Nate Diaz.
Diaz returns to the Octagon after a three-year layoff in less than a fortnight (no, not that Fortnite) to fight Anthony Pettis in UFC 241’s co-main event (full fight card here). It likely won’t come close to breaking any PPV records, but that fight alone is a whole lot better than this dreck.
The good news is that the world’s leading mixed martial arts (MMA) promotion will use 241’s surging momentum among excited and engaged fans and roll it right into UFC 242 (full fight card here), which features another one of its biggest stars, Lightweight champion Khabib Nurmagomedov, going up against No.-ranked division contender, Dustin Poirier.
