Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) Heavyweight champion, Daniel Cormier, will make his long-waited return to the Octagon when he meets Stipe Miocic in the main event of UFC 241 on August 17, 2019 in Anaheim CA.
Prior to “DC’s” rematch against the ex-division king, ESPN will spotlight the career of the former UFC champ-champ on “E:60,” one of the network’s most-popular and long-running segments.
Narrated and produced by multiple-time “Reporter of the Year” winner Ariel Helwani, the special will document Cormier’s rise in MMA coming in as an Olympian, to his reign as both the 205 and 265-pound champion going all the way back to his Strikforce days.
The special gets personal, as well, as it re-visit’s the unfortunate and untimely death of his daughter 15 years ago, to his bitter rivalry with current Light Heavyweight champion Jon Jones.
Like a true champion both in and out of the cage, Cormier went through the trials and tribulations of life and combat sports to become one of the best fighters ever, and one of the true gentleman of the sport.
Unfortunately, all good things must come to an end, as “DC’s” title fight against Miocic could very well be the final fight of his UFC career, as he has long stated that retirement is right around the corner. Unless, this man (and this man) can convince him otherwise.
The special, dubbed “DC’s” Universe,” will air this Sunday (Aug. 11, 2019) at 9:00 a.m ET on ESPN.
