Former middleweight champ Michael Bisping thinks Darren Till should face Robbie Lawler next.
Former UFC middleweight champion thinks Darren Till is a good opponent for Robbie Lawler’s next fight.
Lawler (28-14, 1NC) recently suffered his third consecutive loss last weekend when he dropped a unanimous decision to Colby Covington in the main event of UFC Newark. Meanwhile, Till (17-2-1) is on a two-fight losing streak and shared his interest of moving up to middleweight after being knocked out by Jorge Masvidal at UFC London in March.
Talking on a recent edition of his “Believe You Me” podcast, Bisping explained why he thinks Till is a perfect matchup for Lawler next.
“Who should Robbie Lawler fight next? I was trying to think and Darren Till is the perfect answer,” Bisping said. “I mean Till’s gonna need a fight. He’s taking some time off, he’s on a two-fight losing streak, Robbie’s on a three-fight losing streak. I think that’s a good matchup for both of them. It’s a good matchup for Darren.” (Transcription via MMA News)
Although Bisping is all-in on a welterweight clash between Till and Lawler, the talk of the Liverpudlian moving up to 185-pounds means the fight may not come to fruition.
“I’m not sure if Darren’s gonna go up to 185,” Bisping said. “There has been talk of that, rumors of that. I think that’s a tremendous fight and a really good piece of matchmaking. Both of those guys match up really well. Neither man looking for a takedown. Both good strikers. Both big names in the division, ticks all the boxes.”
