Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) will invade Capital One Arena in Washington D.C. on December 7, 2019 to stage UFC on ESPN 7, and the promotion is bringing out the big boys to play.
UFC announced that Stefan Struve will face Ben Rothwell in hard-hitting Heavyweight action. Struve, who had been battling health issues over the last few years, recently broke his three fight skid by defeating Marcos Rogerio de Lima earlier this year.
After the bout, “Skyscraper” hinted at possible retirement, but it seems that will have to wait for another day.
“Sometimes you need to take a little bit of space and time to realize how much you still love doing something,” wrote Stefan on social media after the announcement.
Rothwell, meanwhile, has been struggling as of late, and is the owner of three straight losses, most recently losing to Andrei Arlovski for a second time at UFC on ESPN 4 in San Antonio, Texas.
Also on the card, Aspen Ladd will face Yana Kunitskaya in women’s Bantamweight action, while Cynthia Calvillo and Claudia Gadelha face off in a Strawweight affair. No main event has been confirmed at this time.
