Bellator 231 “Mir vs. Nelson 2” comes to Mohegan Sun Arena in Uncasville, Connecticut on Friday, October 25, 2019. The newly announced card takes place the same weekend as the MacDonald vs. Lima fight in the exact same venue.
Frank Mir (18-13) is a former UFC Heavyweight champion who has not had much success of late. He comes in on a four fight losing streak, two in UFC and two in Bellator MMA, most recently losing by knockout to Javy Ayala at last year’s Bellator 212.
The good news for Mir is that he owns a win over Roy Nelson from UFC 130 eight years ago. While Nelson (23-17) owns a Bellator win over mutual opponent Ayala, he too has had some hard times of late, dropping three straight including a rematch with Mirko Cro Cop.
MMA Fighting was first to confirm word of this back-to-back weekend of Bellator events. At this early date no other fights have been announced for either card.
