Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) continues to give heavyweight bruiser Greg Hardy the path of least resistance, booking the former gridiron goon for an overseas showdown opposite the returning Jarjis Danho. They’ll do the deed at the upcoming UFC Fight Night 162 mixed martial arts (MMA) fight card on ESPN+, scheduled for Oct. 26, 2019 inside Singapore Indoor Stadium in Singapore.
I’m sure mixed martial arts (MMA) fans were expecting a significant bump in level of opposition after Hardy (5-1) ran through Juan Adams last July in San Antonio, the second straight first-round finish for “The Prince of War” after the Allen Crowder debacle in his Octagon debut.
Guess not.
While his name might not ring a bell, Danho (5-1-1, 1 NC) has two fights under the UFC banner. “Man Mountain” dropped a technical decision to Daniel Omielanczuk at UFC Fight Night 84 in early 2016, then followed that up with a draw opposite Christian Colombo just a few months later.
And hasn’t been seen since.
UFC Singapore will be headlined by the welterweight battle pitting Ben Askren opposite Demian Maia. Elsewhere on the card, Sergei Pavlovich and Maurice Greene collide in heavyweight action while Ciryl Gane vs. Don’Tale Mayes also throw down at 265 pounds.
Expect more UFC Singapore fight card announcements in the coming weeks.
