Zabit Magomedsharipov vs. Calvin Kattar is now targeted for UFC Moscow, according to a report, but nothing is official just yet.
UFC Boston has lost its highly anticipated co-main event.
Zabit Magomedsharipov is out of his featherweight bout against Calvin Kattar scheduled for Oct. 18 at TD Garden, MMA Junkie reported Friday. It is unclear why Magomedsharipov has been forced off the card.
Instead of finding a replacement to fight Kattar in Boston, the Magomedsharipov vs. Kattar fight is expected to be placed on different card, according to the report. UFC Moscow is currently the front-runner, but nothing has been finalized at this time.
Magomedsharipov has made waves ever since signing with the UFC in 2017. He has made five Octagon appearances and won them all, most notably a recent decision over veteran featherweight Jeremy Stephens.
Kattar, a Massachusetts native, has won two in a row and is 4-1 in the UFC. In his last fight, he finished former title challenger Ricardo Lamas with a first-round knockout. He also holds wins over Shane Burgos and Andre Fili. His lone loss in the Octagon is a decision to top contender Renato Moicano.
UFC Boston is expected to be headlined by a light heavyweight bout between top contender Dominick Reyes and former middleweight titleholder Chris Weidman, who is making his 205-pound debut.
